What people are saying

  • “My parents love my postcards and I never would have done it without Familyletter, I don’t think I have ever even bought a stamp before. Love it and will keep using them!”
    Tricia M.
  • “I visited my grandparents last week and it was awesome to see their fridge covered with my postcards! They seem to really appreciate them”
    Eric S.
  • “I sent one to my best friend after she moved across the country and now we’re obsessed. We talk all the time but getting real pics is totally different.”
    Georgia K.
  • “I’ve been sending postcards back and forth with some long distance friends and I genuinely forgot how fun it is to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill lol”
    Steven G.
  • “This is such a good “thinking of you” gift, it feels way more intentional than sending a text”
    Alex U.

    Claire O.
  • “I sent the first one as a joke and now everyone asks when the next one is coming”
    Patrick E.
  • “I send a few postcards a month to my buddies from college, it’s kind of like a monthly time capsule”
    Elijah P.

How can I turn a photo into a postcard?

To turn a photo into a postcard, add it to the FamilyLetter builder, check both sides, and we print and mail a glossy 4x6.

It takes about a minute, and nothing prints until you check out.

A postcard from a photo should look like the photo: ours prints it edge to edge, with no white border.

  1. Add up to four photos from your camera roll. JPG, PNG, HEIC and WebP all work.
  2. Tap a photo on the card to drag it into place, or pinch to zoom. Drag one photo onto another to swap them.
  3. Flip to the back and write your message. It prints in the font you pick.
  4. Choose a back design, and add stickers if you want them.
  5. Check the finished front and back. What you see is what prints.
  6. Pay, then tell us where each card goes. We print it and mail it by USPS First-Class.

Which photos look great on a custom photo postcard

Photos with good light and faces that are easy to see come out clearest on a 4x6 card.

Phone photos are fine. There is nothing to export or resize first.

If a photo is too small to print sharply, the builder says so, and you can swap in another before paying.

The photo you would text and forget is often the one worth printing. A text sinks in the thread. A card is something to hold.

One photo or four: pick your layout

A FamilyLetter custom photo postcard holds one to four of your photos on the front, printed edge to edge on glossy 4x6 card stock.

The layout follows how many photos you add.

  • One photo fills the whole front.
  • Two photos sit side by side as tall halves.
  • Three photos: one tall photo on the left, two stacked on the right.
  • Four photos make a 2x2 grid.

Make a postcard from an iPhone photo

You can make a postcard from an iPhone photo in your phone's browser, straight from your camera roll, with no app and no account.

HEIC, the format many iPhones save photos in, works without converting.

A portrait photo fits neatly as one tall half of the two-photo layout. A landscape photo suits the single-photo front.

The person you send it to needs no app and no account.

Flip it over: what's on the back

The back of the card carries your message, printed in the font you pick, with the address and postage area kept clear.

Pick one of the back designs, and add stickers to the front or back if you like.

We mail each one, free. Mailing your own instead? The postcard stamp calculator has postage; postcard size has the limits.

Questions about custom photo postcards

Can I put more than one photo on a postcard?

Yes, up to four photos, edge to edge. Two sit side by side, three are one tall photo plus two stacked, and four make a 2x2 grid.

Can you mail a photo as a postcard?

Not as a regular photo print. A print has no address side and isn't made to go through the mail on its own. We print your photo as a real 4x6 postcard and mail it.

Do I need to resize my photo to postcard size?

No. The builder fits each photo to its space on the 4x6 card for you. Tap a photo to move it or zoom in until the crop looks right.

Can I make a postcard from my iPhone photos?

Yes. Open the builder in your phone's browser and pick photos from your camera roll. HEIC photos work, and you need no app and no account.

Do you mail it for me or ship it to me?

We mail it for you. After you pay, you tell us where each card goes, and we print it and send it by USPS First-Class Mail with free shipping. Each card can go to a different US address.

How long does it take to arrive?

Usually 5 to 10 business days from order to mailbox: printed within 1 to 2 business days, then sent by USPS First-Class Mail. We can't guarantee a delivery date.

How much does a custom photo postcard cost?

$9.99 for one card, and less per card as you add more: $7.00 each for five, $6.00 each for ten. Shipping is free, even on one card.

Are my photos private?

Yes. Your photos are used only to make and mail your card. They are never sold, never used in ads and never used to train AI, and we delete them on request.
