What people are saying

  • “I sent the first one as a joke and now everyone asks when the next one is coming”
    Patrick E.
  • “I’ve been sending postcards back and forth with some long distance friends and I genuinely forgot how fun it is to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill lol”
    Steven G.

    Tricia M.

    Eric S.
  • “I sent one to my best friend after she moved across the country and now we’re obsessed. We talk all the time but getting real pics is totally different.”
    Georgia K.
  • “This is such a good “thinking of you” gift, it feels way more intentional than sending a text”

    Elijah P.

Funny camp letters to grandchildren that fit a postcard

A postcard back holds three short sentences: one joke, one bit of news, your name. Borrow a line and swap in your own dog:

  • Report from home: Biscuit is fine. He has moved into your bed and says it's his now.
  • Swim test tip from Grandpa: he passed his in 1966 by floating and looking confident.
  • We made your pancakes without you. Grandpa ate eleven. The dog got two.
  • Please send one frog photo. Do not send the frog.
  • Mosquito bite count? Grandma is at nine, and she never left the porch.
  • Grandpa says he'd still beat you at tetherball. We've agreed never to test this.
  • Who won capture the flag? Tell us everything, especially if it was you.

Why summer camp postcards win at mail call

No envelope to tear, so the photo shows first. Put the dog or Grandpa's sunburn on the front, up to four photos.

You make it on your phone, and we print, stamp and mail the postcard. No trip to the post office.

What to leave out of letters to camp

Keep home news light. A sick pet or a family worry they can't fix from camp can wait for the drive home.

Camp letters to grandchildren from grandparents: address and timing

Get the address from the camp's mail page or parent guide, with the camper's full name and cabin if it asks for one.

Most of our cards arrive in 5 to 10 business days, and we can't guarantee a delivery date.

Some camps hand out mail only a few days a week. Send the first card before camp starts, and ask if they hold early mail.

Birthday during camp? Send one of our birthday postcards with their photo.

Camp mail questions

What do you write in a letter to a grandchild at camp?

One joke, one cheerful bit of news from home and one question about camp, like the swim test or a new friend. Three sentences is plenty.

Can you send a postcard to summer camp?

Yes. It goes by USPS like a letter, to the same address. Check your camp's mail page for its rules first.

Is this a letter or a postcard?

A postcard. It's a 4x6 glossy photo postcard with your photos on the front and your note on the back, mailed without an envelope. We add the postage.

How long does mail take to get to camp?

Ours usually arrive in 5 to 10 business days, then the camp sorts it. We can't guarantee a delivery date.
