Thanksgiving postcards for the people not at your table

Not everyone makes it to dinner. A card reaches the grandparent states away, the aunt working a hospital shift, the kid who stayed at college.

Put this fall on the front: the leaf pile, the pumpkin patch, the hand turkeys. Up to four photos, edge to edge.

On the back goes your note, in the font you pick, beside a turkey, a slice of pie or a Thankful for you sticker.

Send it before the day, or after

Before: make it a thank-you. Name one thing you're grateful for about them this year. One is plenty.

After: make it the report. The good photos happen on the day, so a card the week after is news, not late.

Thanksgiving postcard ideas: photos that work

The vintage cards had turkeys and pilgrims. Yours can have the people. A few shots that fill a 4x6 well:

  • The kids' table, mid-chaos, before anyone sits still
  • Grandma's hands on the pie crust
  • Hand turkeys taped to the fridge
  • Everyone asleep on the couch after dinner
  • Last year's table, if this year they're far away

Make one in a minute

Nothing prints until you check out, so try a few photos and see what looks right.

  1. Add one to four photos from your phone or computer.
  2. Write a few lines and pick a font.
  3. Keep the Autumn back and turkey, or swap them.
  4. Check the front and back. That's exactly what prints.
  5. Pay, then add each address. Up to 10 cards, each to its own US address.

What to write on a Thanksgiving card

Two or three lines, one of them specific. Our Thanksgiving card messages has over a hundred, sorted by who they're for.

A few to borrow and change:

  • Thankful for you, and for your pie recipe. Ours sank in the middle.
  • Twelve at the table this year, plus one very full dog. We missed you.
  • Leo said the turkey was his favorite part. Then he ate only rolls.
  • Happy Thanksgiving, Grandpa. Save us a seat at Christmas.

Thanksgiving postcard questions

Can I make Thanksgiving photo postcards from my own pictures?

Yes. Add up to four of your photos, write a message and see the finished front and back before you pay. We print it 4x6 on thick glossy card stock and mail it.

When should I mail a Thanksgiving card?

Allow up to 15 days before Thanksgiving, because USPS can run a little slow. Most cards arrive in 5 to 10 business days, and we can't guarantee a delivery date.

Is it too late to send one after Thanksgiving?

No. A card the week after, with photos from the day, reads as news. It's often the better card, because it shows who was actually there.

Do I need a stamp?

No. We add the postage and mail it, with free shipping on every order, even one card. After you pay, you tell us where it goes.

Can I send one to everyone in the family?

Yes. One order holds 1 to 10 cards, each to its own US address. Write one message for everyone, or switch to a different message for each person.

What Thanksgiving designs are there?

An Autumn back and a Thanksgiving sticker set: pilgrim hat, turkey, pumpkin pie, autumn leaves, acorn and corn, plus Thankful for you, Gobble gobble! and Happy Thanksgiving.

How much does a Thanksgiving postcard cost?

$9.99 for one card, $24.99 for three and $59.99 for ten. Printing and postage are included, with free shipping on every order.
